This is not a typical rye whiskey in the sense that the aroma does not subdue other elements of the drink. This is due to being finished in Bayou Rum XO casks.
The secondary finish allows the whiskey to elevate into a perfect pairing of sweet caramel, butter bread, and the tiniest bit of rum.
The whiskey lingers long and hard, with ginger spice and white pepper coating the back of the throat. With a couple of drops of water, the finish is toned down quite a bit, but if you enjoy a little heat, here is your whiskey.
