Earlier this year, Widow Jane was acquired by Heaven Hill Brands and now the distillery has announced the 2022 launch of their annual older-age-statement whiskey, The Vaults.
The fourth chapter in this collection hits shelves this month.
The Vaults 2022 blends bourbons ranging from 14 years up to 19 years old, selected and set aside in Widow Jane’s Red Hook, Brooklyn rick house by Master Distiller Lisa Wicker.
Each installment of The Vaults has explored a different finishing wood, from various regions and with different amounts of air seasoning to the staves. The Vaults 2022 finished Missouri Ozark oak casks air-seasoned for three years.
This tight-grain oak brings hints of vanilla, smoke and spice, the company reports. Altogether, The Vaults 2022 is characterized by sweet tobacco, leather, vanilla, sarsaparilla, cinnamon, cocoa powder and a hint of seasoned oak campfire.
As with all Widow Jane whiskeys, The Vaults 2022 is non-chill filtered and proofed with limestone mineral water from the Rosendale Mines of New York, 100 miles north of the distillery.
Widow Jane The Vaults 2022 launches under allocation. A total of 2,000 cases will roll out.
Bottled at 99 proof, The Vaults 2022 retails for a suggested price of $250 per 750-ml. bottle.
