This Earth Month, Bulleit Frontier Whiskey is continuing its partnership with American Forests by planting 20 new trees in Chicago’s McCollum Park as part of a broader mission to restore 2.5 million trees across the country by 2026.

But the brand’s environmental commitment doesn’t stop at Tree Equity. It’s also distilled into every bottle of Bulleit American Single Malt. Crafted at the cutting-edge Bulleit Distilling Co. in Shelbyville, KY, this whiskey is made at a facility powered by the first industrial solar array in Shelby County. The site is designed with sustainability in mind—reducing carbon emissions, conserving water, and minimizing waste throughout production. The whiskey itself is bottled in 100% recycled glass.

The result? A rich, nuanced American Single Malt with a refreshingly light footprint.

AN AMERICAN SINGLE MALT

After decades of experimentation by distillers across the country, in 2022 the TTB proposed the following definition for the American Single Malt:  an American Single Malt must be made from 100% malted barley, distilled entirely at one U.S. distillery, mashed, distilled and aged in the United States, distilled to 160 proof (80% abv) or less, and matured in oak barrels that hold no more than 700 liters.

Bulleit American Single Malt is a unique take on this emerging category, crafted with a specially-curated malt barley strain aged in charred American white oak barrels.

DISTILLATION PROCESS

Bulleit American Single Malt is distilled the same way they craft their bourbon—on a copper column still with a secondary distillation in a copper doubler.

One key difference for the American Single Malt process is that it’s distilled to a slightly higher proof than Bulleit Bourbon, delivering a lighter, brighter and more delicate taste profile.

TASTING NOTES

Signature high rye grains were substituted for 100% malted barley. Bulleit American Single Malt still has that signature, subtle Bulleit spice with aromas of sweet vanilla and toasted oak.

It’s light and fruity on the palate with hints of red fruit and pear, which follow into a smooth finish of oaky caramel and subtle cocoa notes.
