Pinhook has announced the launch of its latest release, the Vertical Series Bourbon 8 Year. The Pinhook Vertical Series follows a single group of bourbon and rye barrels sourced from Midwest Grain Products (MGP) of Indiana as they mature from four to 12 years of age at Castle & Key in Frankfort, Kentucky. Made with a set mash bill (75% corn, 20.5% rye, and 4.5% malted barley), barrels, and similar fill dates, the only thing affecting the aroma and flavor of the spirit is the aging process itself.
Pinhook Vertical Series Bourbon 8 Year is blended from 120 barrels and bottled at 114.6 proof (57.3% ABV). It’s described as having aromas of “orange curacao, oloroso sherry, clove, and brown sugar,” followed by notes of “cherry, plum, cinnamon, and burnt sugar” on the palate.
Staying true to its racehorse roots, Pinhook is dedicated to showcasing a thoroughbred on each bottle. The Vertical Series Bourbon bottles all feature Bourbon War, who raced and won at Belmont Park, Churchill Downs, Gulfstream Park, Keeneland, Pimlico Race Course, and Saratoga. With the same horse on each bottle representing this series, the different vintages can be identified by the geometric shapes on their labels, which change yearly, and the age statement on the top label.
Pinhook Vertical Series Bourbon 8 Year carries a retail price of $89.99 and is available now through Breeze (Pinhook’s text-to-buy platform) and at select retailers nationwide.
