Olde Raleigh Distillery, a small-batch craft distillery nestled in the heart of North Carolina, received multiple accolades from the 2023 International Whisky Competition after several of its hand-blended, unique bourbons were blind-tested, ranked and awarded by the professional tasting panel.
Competing against national and international distilleries, Olde Raleigh Distillery was named the Best Micro Distillery for Whiskey, serving as a testament to the care, love and attention to detail that Master Blender Brandon McCraney pours into each limited release.
In addition, Olde Raleigh Distillery’s bourbon received several awards across multiple categories. Olde Raleigh Distillery’s Olde Stogie, which features straight bourbon whiskey finished in Armagnac and Tawny Port Casks, finished first place as the Best North Carolina Whiskey and second place as the Best Barrel Finish and Special Cask Whiskey. The Olde Raleigh Whiskey Society Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in a Honey Barrel and received second place for Best North Carolina Whiskey and third place for Best Barrel Finish and Special Cask Whiskey.
“We’re family-owned, operated and holding our own,” said McCraney. “Every single small-batch bourbon is meticulously crafted, and our hard work and dedication shine through with this recognition from the International Whisky Competition. We cannot wait to continue to put North Carolina and the town of Zebulon on the map for our one-of-a-kind small batches.”
The International Whisky Competition is the world’s most-followed whisky competition, where whiskies worldwide are tasted and rated by a professional tasting panel. Founded in 2010, the competition offers a unique approach with judges reviewing only one whisky at a time, and only three medals are awarded per category.
