We loved the first batch of Forbidden Bourbon, due to its uniqueness and the background of the Master Distiller, so we decided to do Batch 2 to see the consistency.
Distilled, aged, and bottled at Bardstown Bourbon Company by Marianne Eaves. Marianne is Kentucky’s first female Master Distiller, debuting the industry’s first white corn and white winter wheat, small batch, hand-blended 5-year-old Kentucky bourbon.
This bourbon is unlike anything I’ve tasted. Aroma leads with smooth vanilla bean, lingering citrus, with gorgeous hints of nuts and spice. The flavors on the palate are unique. Caramel, apple, and delectable crème brulee provide sweetness, with citrus leaning more towards orange. The floral and herbal notes from the nose transfer to the palate. The finish is soft with light tannins and oak. The mouth feel is sophisticated, very creamy and buttery. My favorite part is how light and delightful each sip is. I can’t compare it to any other bourbon I’ve had. Did I mention there is no burn?
At 95.2 proof, this one-of-a-kind experience is a must-try for my bourbon connoisseurs out there. Although, Forbidden’s sexy bottle/label combination will set you back about $149.99. That is, if you are lucky enough to find a bottle right now.
