The French Ally is a reserve cocktail on the menu at Circa 1856, the newly opened tasting room from Chicken Cock Whiskey, in Bardstown, KY. This drink is on the menu full-time. Another Paris-themed beverage is the Wildflower in Paris.
The cocktail is an interpretation of the famous “Sidecar” cocktail and shares the story of the friendship forged between France and America during the American Revolution. It also highlights the story of Chicken Cock Whiskey being founded in Paris, KY. The recipe replaces cognac with Chanticleer, Chicken Cock’s fine Kentucky Straight Bourbon finished in premium French Cognac Barrels. The rest of the recipe stays true to the classic Sidecar, with lemon juice, triple sec and a sugared rim.
