New York Magazine and Great Jones® Distilling Co announce The Manhattan Bartender Contest. For a cocktail named after the borough where it was invented, the Manhattan is all too often made with whiskey from out of state — outside of the Northeast, even. It’s time to put New York City back into the Manhattan.
New York Magazine and Great Jones® Distilling Co. are challenging bartenders from all over the tri-state area to share their own twist on the Manhattan using Great Jones Distilling Co’s line-up of New York-made whiskey. There’s no other choice for the classic cocktail than the only whiskey distilled in Manhattan since Prohibition, after all. We’re looking for a modern take on the Manhattan that celebrates the spirit of New York and includes at least 1.5 ounces of Great Jones Bourbon or Rye. You have until October 1, 2024 to submit your New York–inspired Manhattan recipe. The Competition
New York Magazine and Great Jones are searching for the ultimate Manhattan, Manhattan — a modern take on the Manhattan that celebrates the spirit of New York and includes at least 1.5 ounces of Great Jones Bourbon or Rye.
The Prize
One grand prize winner will not only get the bragging rights from being crowned the Manhattan, Manhattan bartender, but will also receive $5,000 USD and a digital feature in New York Magazine.
