Oct.22, 2024–Louisville, Kentucky–Due to the overwhelming popularity of a certain single barrel bourbon that Buzzard’s Roost released at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in September, Buzzard’s Roost is now launching a small batch release of this bourbon on Saturday, Oct.26, at the Buzzard’s Roost Tasting Room and Distillery.
The small-batch Kindred Collaboration Bourbon–to be available exclusively in Kentucky-was created by Buzzard’s Roost Lead Distiller Ethan Spalding and his dad, long-time cooperage industry executive Chad Spalding. (The whiskey family heritage also includes Ethan’s grand dad, Steve Nally, a renowned Bourbon Hall of Fame Master Distiller.)Ethan and his dad put their magic touch onthis5-year-old double-oaked bourbon with a mash bill of75% corn,21% rye and4% malted barley that underwent secondary aging in a Buzzard’s Roost proprietary barrel chosen by Ethan and Chad for the flavor profile that they liked the best.
The combination of 5-year-old bourbon with this mash bill and this Buzzard’s Roost specially toasted wave-stave barrel has never been done before. This Saturday starting at 11 a.m., Ethan Spalding will sign bottles, and customers can try before they buy, with tasting pours available.
Bottles are$65 each. Kindred Collaboration is available exclusively in Kentucky and will be available at the Buzzard’s Roost Tasting Room & Distillery and at Kentucky retail locations. “My dad and I had a great time working together on Kindred Collaboration,” said Ethan Spalding ”We tasted through dozens of blends and second-barrel finishes and landed on one that my dad and I both really love.”
