Just in time for Bottled-in-Bond Day on March 3, Buffalo Trace Distillery is thrilled to announce the 100 nonprofit organizations nationwide selected for its “100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities” initiative. First announced in September 2023, Buffalo Trace will donate sets of the Distillery’s finest whiskeys to each chosen nonprofit organization for charitable fundraising initiatives. The contribution is inspired by Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., an early owner of Buffalo Trace Distillery and fervent supporter of the 1897 Bottled-In-Bond Act. This first-of-its-kind legislation increased quality and consumer safety in the bourbon industry.
Showcasing the Distillery’s commitment to preserving the legacy of Colonel Taylor, the “100” holds special meaning as it pays homage to 100 proof, one of several requirements for a whiskey to qualify as Bottled-in-Bond. Each organization was selected for their demonstrated commitment to improving their communities, which was also a driving force behind the passage of the Bottled-In-Bond Act as it ensured safer, improved whiskey production practices. In addition to selecting 100 recipients, on September 28, 2023, Buffalo Trace invited charities of all kinds from across the United States to apply for consideration within 100 days.
Selected nonprofits support their communities in various ways, ranging from food and shelter assistance; education and environmental causes; veteran’s programs; animal support; research, assistance and prevention of cancer, and more. Featured products for the “100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities” initiative include lineups from some of Buffalo Trace Distillery’s most sought-after brands, including E.H. Taylor, Blanton’s, Eagle Rare, and Weller. The number of bottles in each set may vary. Selected organizations will receive further instruction for their bourbon set via email.
