Candied pecans are one of my favorite parts of the holidays. The whole house fills with the smell of baked goodness.

What sets these nuts apart is the addition of Kentucky bourbon.

This boozy treat can be a great gift for the bourbon lover in your family or just an evening snack watching Christmas movies.

If you are like my family, you have watched Christmas Vacation at least 12 times and Charlie Brown’s Christmas nine times.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 Cups of Halved Pecans
  • 1 Cup of White Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of Kentucky Bourbon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 Cup of Water
METHOD:
  1. Combine all ingredients, except pecans, in a heavy-bottomed saucepot over medium-high heat.
  2. Stir the mixture constantly until it reaches 234-240 degrees or a soft-ball stage.
  3. Fold in the pecan halves and mix.
  4. Fold in the pecan halves and mix. My favorite episode of Schitts Creek.
  5. Spoon out on parchment paper in a single layer.
  6. Bake at 250 degrees for about 10 minutes or until evenly browned.
  7. Cool and enjoy.
