It’s Rum Time

Celebrate National Rum Month by enjoying one of Barrel Craft Spirit’s unique Private Release Rums.  Yes, they produce rums as well as whiskeys. Each of these is a unique blend of rums from Barbados, Jamaica, and Guyana, as well as Rhum Agricôle from Martinique. Once created, these blends are married in single casks, many of which were previously used for other spirits and/or wines.

You can find these very limited releases here.

Barrell Private Release Rum B646 finished in a Ruby Port Barrel. Winner of Best Rum at the Spring 2021 Barleycorn International Spirits Competition. This blend is comprised of rums from Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, and Rhum Agricôle from Martinique, finished in a sweet Ruby Port Barrel. The judges said “A bright, rich rum with a hint of funk meandering through the palate and finish. It’s bold, well structured, and nuanced despite the aggressive proof.”

Barrell Rum Private Release B716 finished in a Ruby Port Barrel. Winner of a San Francisco World Spirits Gold Medal. This blend has a base of Barbados rum making up 71% of the final blend. The marrying and finishing were done in a Ruby Port Barrel. The judges said “This blend has an aroma of sweet cream, banana split, honey-roasted nuts, and white flowers. The palate is delicate with notes of pineapple upside-down cake, caramel glazed doughnut, a touch of raspberry preserve, and cinnamon dusted espresso beans.”

Barrell Rum Private Release Blend B750 finished in a Pear Brandy Barrel is a blend of rums from Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, and Guyana with the largest component, Barbados Rum, making up 75% of the final ratio. The marrying and finishing were done in a Pear Brandy barrel.

Barrell Rum Private Release J856 finished in a Bourbon Cask has a base of Jamaican rum making up 85% of the final blend. The marrying and finishing were done in a Bourbon Cask.

Barrell Rum Private Release J857 finished in a Peneau de Charentes Barrel has a base of Jamaican rum making up 85% of the final blend. The marrying and finishing were done in a Peneau de Charentes Barrel.

And for a bourbon in a rum finish try Barrell Bourbon Cask Finish: Tale of Two Islands Rum. In 2018 they produced a very limited release of our Tale of Two Islands Rum: a Jamaican Rum matured in peated Single Malt Islay whisky casks.

For this Barrell Bourbon Cask Finish: Tale of Two Islands Rum release, they took the empty casks that held our Tale of Two Islands Rum, and used them to finish a blend of straight bourbon whiskeys. This is a classic bourbon with notes from the sweetness of the rum and the smokiness of the Islay casks.
