Chattanooga Whiskey announced the latest release in their Bottled in Bond Vintage Series: Fall 2019. Barreled from July 2019 through December 2019, this seasonal vintage brings the rich, autumnal flavors of custom-toasted barrels to their award-winning series.
As with previous vintages, Fall 2019 was exclusively produced at Chattanooga Whiskey’s Riverfront Distillery. It was crafted from various unique high-malt bourbon mash bills – all made within the same distilling season – and each one was composed of at least 25% specialty malted grains.
The 6th vintage since 2021, the Fall 2019 blend, features three unique mash bills, each aged in a portion of custom-toasted barrels developed in collaboration with their cooper (Independent Stave Company) to match the flavor characteristics of the underlying recipes.
A light, low-temperature toast profile was designed to complement their coveted “Wheated” recipe. In contrast, a much longer, hotter toast profile was crafted to pair with their chocolate-lover “Roasted” recipe. These two toast profiles joined Chattanooga Whiskey’s signature “Barrel 91” custom toast profile, which is toasted for an extended period through a broad range of temperatures.
“While this isn’t the first time toasted and charred barrels have been used in our Bottled in Bond series, this particular vintage utilizes multiple types of toasted barrels, each one custom-developed to match the flavor profiles of the three mash bills included in the blend,” said Grant McCracken, Founding Distiller and Chief Product Officer. “Together, the combination of multiple mash bills and multiple barrel types brings an amazing complexity to the whiskey and speaks to what our Bottled in Bond is all about.”
Made in four batches of 11 barrels each, this limited release offers fall-friendly notes of milk chocolate, root beer, sweet potato pie, and amaretto with a spicy cinnamon finish.
