Batch 035 is a blend of 6-7-8 and 13-year-old straight bourbon from Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky. BCS has continuously released top-notch blends and has mastered the blending process.The spirit company has released 35 different batches over the last ten years. Many of the previous releases have won awards from around the globe. In the past year, BCS bought an 89,900-square-foot rickhouse and offers contract bottling service and barrel storage. BCS Founder Joe Beatrice explains, “Our contract bottling expertise and barrel storage are now available for craft distillers, which saves time and energy and allows them to focus on growing their brand. Our rickhouse exudes the original craftsmanship on which the reputation of Kentucky Bourbon was built and provides a historic touch for aging whiskey.” Cuddos to branching out and growing the brand.
REVIEW:
The bourbons used for the blend are unknown, but coming in at 117.5 proof, it does supply the kick you didn’t know you needed.
I worry about blends because they are too muddled and not as pronounced as other single-sourced bourbons.
That worry was eliminated during the first sip. A deep baked brown sugar flavor pervaded throughout, bringing subtle hints of citrus and vanilla.
With a fast 180, the flavors switched to a spicy pepper, cinnamon and clove, rounding the taste out. Swirling the liquor around, unleashed the citrus notes from the initial sip. I wonder if the change in the profile comes from the blending of three different partner distilleries.
With a long, peppery finish that you feel down to your toes, Batch 035 is a game-changing blend. BCS continues to raise its game to meet or exceed expectations of what bourbon blends can be. At $89 MSRP, it may be a little high for some, but well worth the money.
