You may know it as barrel-proof or cask-strength. No matter what it is called, it is taking over the bourbon world. Distillers have been making cask-strength bourbon for decades but tampering it 
with water to make it more palatable.
Is barrel-proof more original? Yes and No. Yes, in the matter, it is what the master distiller believes is the perfect barrel, i.e., age, proof, and taste. No, because a bit of water may enhance the flavors of the whiskey. Either way, it is a tasty new spin on an established spirit.
Make no mistake, cask-strengths are hotter than most, but like the 1959 film starring a beautiful Marilyn Monroe, “Some Like it Hot.”
